| Frank C. Carlucci served as U.S. Secretary of Defense from November 1987 to January 1989. After leaving the Department of Defense, Mr. Carlucci served as Chairman and Chairman Emeritus of The Carlyle Group, a merchant bank in Washington D.C. |
| Mr. Carlucci also served as Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs from 1986-87. In addition, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sears World Trade, Inc., and was also President and Chief Operating Officer from 1983-86. Mr. Carlucci's other appointments have included Deputy Secretary of Defense from 1981-83, Deputy Director of Central Intelligence from 1978-81, Ambassador to Portugal from 1975-78, Undersecretary of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare from 1972-74, Associate Director and Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget from 1971-72, and Assistant Director and Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity from 1969-70. |

| Among Mr. Carlucci's awards and honors are the Herbert Roback Memorial Award in 1989, the George C. Marshall Award in 1989, an Honorary Doctor of Law Degree from the University of Scranton in 1989, the Woodrow Wilson Award in 1988, the James Forrestal Award in 1988, the Presidential Citizens Award in 1983, the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal in 1981, the Distinguished Intelligence Medal in 1981, the Defense Department Distinguished Civilian Service Award in 1977, the Health, Education and Welfare Distinguished Civilian Service Award in 1975, and the State Department Superior Service Award in 1971. Mr. Carlucci is a graduate of Princeton University and attended the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. |
